Generally, a website is built to perform any or a combination of

Brochure / Gallery
This is the most basic type of website. It is pretty much as it is described.
Simply a way to display your products or services, tell your customers
about you and offer them various ways to contact you.
Communication / Community / Portal
This type of site provides a source of communication between you and
among your visitors and are generally intended as a source for information.
They often include user forums or blog functions
and links to related sites and publications.
Business / eCommerce
eCommerce functionality allows you to sell your product or services and
to collect immediate payment from your customers online. This is generally
considered the most complicated website function. Though this opinion is not
without its merit, there are a number of technology factors that may
make that more or less the case. |
